Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS will be organising the World Engineering, Science, and Technology Congress 2010 (ESTCON2010). This congress will be held from 15th to 17th June 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia.
ESTCON2010 is an an excellent “centre stage” for knowledge sharing, intellectual discussions and also networking on various areas of interest; for all academics, researchers, scientists, engineers, interest groups and industry experts from all around the world.
ESTCON2010 comprises 7 international conferences, namely:
(i) International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced System (ICIAS2010) organised by Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, this conference aims at bringing together experts and researchers in the field of advanced and intelligent systems to discuss their research work and development activities. This conference also could be a platform for the participants to communicate, network and possibly create opportunities for products commercialization.
(ii) International Symposium on Information Technology (ITSIM’10) organised by Computer and Information Sciences Department. This conference aims to provide an excellent opportunity to share and exchange technologies and applications in the information technology and communication fields for professionals, engineers, academics and industrial experts worldwide. This conference will be organised in partnership with other local universities. ITSIM is an annual event and each local university takes turn to organise. In 2010, UTP will organise it.
(iii) International Conference on Plant Equipment and Reliability (ICPER2010) organised by Mechanical Engineering Department. This conference aims to bring together researchers and industrial practitioners under one roof to share knowledge and experience in the development of plant equipment, reliability and other related areas.
(iv) International Conference on Fundamental and Applied Science (ICFAS2010) organized by Fundamental and Applied Sciences Department. This conference aims to bring together academics, researchers and industrialists for knowledge sharing in technology areas related to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
(v) International Conference on Sustainable Building and Infrastructure (ICSBI’10) organised by Civil Engineering Department. This conference aims to gather professionals from the domains of building and infrastructure; oil and gas; built environment; energy policy and legislature; and business and investment to share knowledge and input on green technologies and current practices in the industry. In view of the current concerns in carbon emissions during material preparation and building operations, this conference is indeed timely to discuss good practice of sustainable building and infrastructure to increase the efficiency of resources such as energy, water and materials.
(vi) International Conference on Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials (ICPEAM2010) organised by Chemical Engineering Department. The conference aims to provide an international forum to present and discuss recent progress in both fundamentals and applications for a wide range of interdisciplinary domains which include material science and engineering, nanotechnology, environmental technologies, process system engineering, reaction and separation engineering. UTP will organise this conference in partnership with the Institute of Chemical Engineers Malaysia through the annual Symposium of Malaysia Chemical Engineers (SOMCHE).
(vii) International Enhanced Oil Recovery Conference (INTEORC2010) organised by Petroleum Engineering Department. This conference aims at bringing together experts and researchers in the field of non-thermal enhance oil recovery to discuss their research work and development activities.
The theme of the congress is "Towards Sustainability: Bridging Engineering, Technology and Humanities". The theme stresses the bridging of all community of experts in research and innovation in sustaining of knowledge for betterment of societies.
The congress is also working on a special Carbon Offset Initiative. This carbon offset initiative will help to minimize our contribution to global warming by organising activities including planting of trees during the planning and execution stages of the congress. The sponsorship received for this congress will also be channeled for funding the planting of these trees.
ESTCON2010 will be the biggest world congress ever held in Malaysia. This congress will include 20 parallel sessions and more than 1400 research papers from all around the world.
